According to ESPN's Field Yates, the New England Patriots beat the Cincinnati Bengals for pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue.
The Patriots had priority on the waiver wire, and now the former Pro Bowl defenseman is headed to New England.
Ngakoue has recorded 70.5 sacks in 10 NFL seasons. He began his career as a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since then, he has appeared on several teams, most recently with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Patriots need all the help they can get on the defensive line. They had a big day against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but there are better offenses with more impressive offensive lines on the schedule.
Along with the Patriots, another team tried to acquire Yannick Ngakoue: the Bengals.
New England had priority over Cincinnati, otherwise Ngakoue – who only had priority because the Ravens beat the Bengals – would have remained in the AFC North.

At least Ngakoue gives the Patriots another experienced playmaker on offense. For a team that still needs a spark on defense, this could be a low-risk, high-reward win.
