Two Patriots starters missing at lone bye week practice

The New England Patriots were missing two starters on both sides of the ball at practice on Tuesday.

Per Linebacker Jahlani Tavai and offensive tackle Vederian Lowe were absent from the team's only practice of the bye week.

Tight end Hunter Henry practiced but was limited on the field.

The Patriots are still licking their wounds from Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Late in the fourth quarter, they blew the lead on a game-winning, 19-play, 80-yard drive by the visiting Colts.

Lowe was affected by multiple injuries throughout the season. The hope is that a week of rest will bring the entire team as close to 100 percent as possible. They haven't played NFL games for 13 weeks straight, and that should give them time to take a step back, take a breath and hit the reset button.

The Patriots only have four games left on their regular season schedule. On their return they will face the Arizona Cardinals on the road, and then there will be a duel against the Los Angeles Chargers between two AFC duels with the Buffalo Bills.
