Among the Jets' questionable moves under Douglas' watch was the acquisition of wide receiver Davante Adams. While Adams has had moments, New York has still only won one game since firing Saleh.
But back to the Adams deal: It was completed at the 2024 NFL trade deadline. After that, Douglas spoke to the media. It was the last time he did this.
Douglas was in that discussion asked about his own future with the team and didn't sound very positive.
“No,” Douglas said when asked if he was worried. “I just come here every day and do everything I can to help this team achieve its goals. Whatever happens, happens.”
Sounds a bit like a defeated guy at this point.
Not to mention, there were numerous rumors and reports that Johnson was the one who pushed for many knee-jerk moves that Douglas didn't entirely agree with…like the Adams trade itself.
