“Just the opportunity to be here with him at the start of the season excited me,” Homer said. “But now I see him taking over [the offense]I just want to see him thrive and thrive.

“He pays great attention to detail,” Homer said. “He brings his attention to detail and the love and passion he has for the game into coaching. He used to be a player, so he brings the same energy as he did back then.”

Brown played running back at Georgia from 2004 to 2007. He appeared in 40 games over four seasons, passing for 2,646 yards and 23 touchdowns on 529 carries and catching 39 passes for 372 yards and two touchdowns. He was selected by the Falcons in the sixth round of the 2008 draft and also spent time with the Browns in 2009-10.

The Bears added safety on Thursday Jaquan Brisker Due to a concussion, he was on injured reserve and was sidelined for the next four games.

The 2022 second-round pick out of Penn State has missed the last four contests after being injured in an Oct. 6 win over the Panthers. Brisker can return to action on December 16th when the Bears visit the Vikings on Monday Night Football.

Defensive end Montez sweat (Ankle) returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday after missing Wednesday. Starting tackles for the second straight year Braxton Jones And Darnell Wright were limited due to knee injuries and guards Teven Jenkins (Ankle) and Tackle Kiran Amegadjie (Wade) did not participate in training.

Defensive coordinator Eric Washington was the Bills' associate head coach and defensive line coach last season when Buffalo replaced offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey with Joe Brady in Week 11 before winning its final five games and clinching the AFC East title with an 11-6 record.

“One of the things that I had to do as coach of this team in this situation,” Washington said, “is just make sure that I kept the guys, our players, focused, our staff stayed focused and we continued to strive for a higher level Performance and execution level. And that's what we did then and that's what we'll continue to do.

Washington isn't worried about the Bears defense losing its focus.

“One of the things I consistently describe when describing the men I work with is their character,” he said. “This doesn’t just show up when everything is going well. It also shows up in times when things don't go exactly the way you need them to. I've experienced that and I've really gotten to the point where I can appreciate it.” That goes back to when we started working together.
