Wright injured his knee against the Cardinals on November 3rd and also missed last Sunday's game against the Patriots.
“It’s good to get back in,” Wright added. “It feels good. My high school coach always said, 'You can't beat the bat in the tub,' so I'm excited to be able to try to get back out there.”
While Wright is eager to be back in the lineup this Sunday, he applauded the reserves Matt Pryor, Larry Borom And Jake Curhan for being next man up in several positions over the last few weeks.
“They’ve done a great job stepping up,” Wright said. “Think about a guy like Matt. He played mostly guard all year and then stepped up to tackle when I went down – kudos to him. “Larry, he had the injury at the start of the year and is just getting back into the game.” Him getting involved is great too – everyone has to step up and play when your number is called.
Having the unit near full strength will not only provide more continuity within the offense, but according to Wright, it will also increase the room's confidence to “handle our part of this as an O-line.”
During watch Teven Jenkins – who injured his ankle last Sunday – did not practice on Wednesday, the return of Jones and Wright would provide stability up front as the Bears prepare for their first league game of the season against their bitter rival.
“It will be nice to be back out there, obviously against a great division team,” Jones said. “I’ve been seeing her for three years. Obviously it will be a difficult question. We have them at home… I'm excited. It's like a breath of fresh air and being able to just go out and play – let it go and let it rip.”
More injury news: Coach Matt Eberflus provided some additional injury updates during his visit with reporters on Wednesday, first mentioning this Jaquan Brisker remains in the concussion protocol and will not play against Green Bay, which will be the fifth straight game the safety has missed.
Elsewhere on the offensive line are rookie backup tackles Kiran Amegadjie (Wade) stays out of practice. On the defensive line: Pro Bowl pass rusher Montez sweat (Ankle) didn't practice on Wednesday, but Darrell Taylor (Knee) – who missed last Sunday’s game – participated on a limited basis.
Squad changes: Eberflus also announced that the Bears have elevated Curhan from the practice squad to the active roster and signed an offensive lineman Ricky Stromberg to the practice team.
Curhan — a four-year pro — appeared in the last two games for the Bears after spending the first eight weeks on the practice squad. Stromberg, who is in his second NFL season, played four games for the Commanders in 2023.
