In their last game, the The Lions were without Alex Anzalone for a few weeks due to a broken forearm. Fortunately, Wednesday's report shows no other notable injuries from the Jaguars game (For injury videos, see my post-game report).
Although the Colts' injury report is short, they are hurting along the offensive line with two starters on IR, another starter who missed last game with a knee and another starter with a new foot injury.
DETROIT LIONS
Appreciated report as the team only had a walkthrough.
Sam LaPorta TE (Shoulder – FP)
After missing a game with a left AC joint sprain, Dan Campbell said Wednesday that LaPorta is “upside questionable… trending in the right direction.” Although the FP is just an estimate, it strongly suggests that LaPorta will play on Sunday.
Carlton Davis CB (Thumb – FP)
Davis broke his left thumb in practice last week and played the entire first half against the Jaguars with a thumb splint. He was substituted for the second half, probably as a precaution. The FP confirms today that there has been no significant aggravation of the thumb and he will play against the Colts.
Allen Robinson WR (Gameday Concussion Protocol Evaluation – FP)
Robinson hit his head late in the Jaguars game and was slow to get back up. The FP today would mean he has not been diagnosed with a concussion and should be available on Sunday.
Shane Zylstra TE (Neck – FP)
Zylstra left the Jaguars' game late in the fourth quarter. The video didn't show anything serious, but a cervical spine problem is always a concern with a spinal problem. The FP assures today that it is not a spinal strain, but most likely just a soft tissue strain.
Emmanuel Moseley CB (pec – FP)
Moseley suffered a torn pectoral muscle in August and opened his 21-day training window on November 6th. He is expected to remain in the practice window through the weekend and be added to the active roster early next week before Thanksgiving.
NOTEWORTHY
Ifeatu Melifonwu
Since he hasn't played yet this year, here's his timeline:
– August 17th: Suspected Achilles tendonitis
– September 28: Placed on IR
-6. November: Practice window open
– November 14: A finger injury appeared on the injury report
– November 18th: Temporarily activated from IR
– November 19: Back on IR, presumably due to finger injury
-December 22: Eligible to return against the Bears
Brodric Martin
This second-year player suffered a right knee hyperextension on August 24 and has not played this year. As expected, he was activated to the squad from his IR training window on Tuesday. However, that doesn't mean he will play this weekend. It still depends on his overall physical/mental readiness and where the coaches see him on the depth chart.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Appreciated report as the team only had a walkthrough.
Bernhard Raimann LT (knee – NP)
This starting LT missed last game with an unspecified knee injury. Wednesday's NP doesn't bode well for the weekend.
Braden Smith RT (Foot – LP)
This starting RT has played every game this year, but the foot is a new entry. Let's see if he downgrades or upgrades during the week.
Tyquan Lewis DE (Elbow – FP)
Lewis has not played in the last seven games while on IR. His 21-day training window just opened today, making it very unlikely he will play against the Lions.
Michael Pittman WR (back – FP)
Pittman has been dealing with an earlier problem for several weeks. He played in the last game and was scheduled to play again on Sunday. He had 35 catches for 412 yards on the year.
NOTEWORTHY
Ryan KellyStarting player, is on IR and has missed the last two games.
Will Friesthe OG starts, is on IR and has missed the last six games.
