The Green Bay Packers won't have to defend Brock Purdy or block Nick Bosa when the San Francisco 49ers arrive at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Kyle Shanahan's team ruled out both players in its latest injury report, which was submitted Friday afternoon.
Purdy is dealing with a right shoulder injury suffered in last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday and did not participate on Friday. — who is 2-7 in his NFL career as a starter — will start Sunday.
Bosa has struggled with hip and oblique injuries this season. He hasn't practiced at all this week and won't play on Sunday, decimating the 49ers' already disappointing pass rush. Entering Week 12, Bosa has a team-high pressure of 52.
Accordingly Without Bosa on the field, the 49ers have a pressure rate of 18 percent and a sack rate of two percent this season. They would finish last in the NFL in both categories — suggesting the pass rush could struggle for disruption against Jordan Love and the Packers on Sunday.
Yetur Gross-Matos and Sam Okuayinonu will be asked to play snaps as edge rushers in Bosa's absence. The 49ers will also be without defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, the team's best interior threat.
