The Minnesota Vikings lost JJ McCarthy to a torn meniscus early in the preseason after an impressive first game in the NFL. Everyone thought he would play sooner rather than later, but those plans were scrapped.
A few months after his initial injury and in the midst of his rehab, McCarthy underwent another meniscus surgery.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert was the first to report on the operation and provide details. Seifert reported that McCarthy experienced swelling in his surgically repaired knee during rehab. The Vikings' rookie quarterback received a biological injection and his return schedule should not be extended.
