Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Piñeiro has had a lot to celebrate in recent weeks. But maybe from now on he has to be careful not to party too much.
Piñeiro was unexpectedly listed as a limited participant due to a left knee injury. Then, in a worrying development, he was deemed a non-attendee at today's meeting and for with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Well, it turns out that Piñeiro actually injured his knee in one of the silliest (but very understandable) ways imaginable.
According to head coach Dave Canales, Piñeiro injured his knee his walk-off field goal against the New York Giants in Week 10. His 36-yard field goal resulted in a for the Panthers and this little party on the seemingly dangerous playing field of the Allianz Arena in Munich. . .
This kick also helped Piñeiro become that in league history. He entered the bye with an 89.381 percent success rate, surpassing Baltimore's Justin Tucker's mark after Tucker missed two attempts in Week 11.
Luckily for the Panthers, Piñeiro is still expected to play this weekend.
