QB Trevor Lawrence expected to play in Week 13

The entered Week 13 unsure which quarterback would start for the on Sunday at EverBank Stadium.

They have a strong understanding after training on Friday.

Fourth-year quarterback is on track to return to the lineup for the AFC South showdown after missing the last two games with a sprained ACL in his left shoulder.

said Lawrence had one and should have no restrictions in his first game since November 3rd.

“I would say as of now, yes, he will play,” Pederson told reporters Friday. “You know, we're getting through today, Friday, Saturday, but he's had a good week.”

Lawrence injured his non-throwing shoulder in the first half of the Week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles but remained in the game. He missed the next two games, which led to Mac Jones taking over the starting lineup.

Jacksonville (2-9) had a week off to rest, giving Lawrence time to recover before taking the field again. Pederson indicated he wouldn't drastically change Jacksonville's offensive plan should Lawrence play against Houston, but he would be careful not to put his quarterback in danger.

“You don’t want your quarterback to get hit anyway, but yeah, you just have to be aware of not moving or doing too many design runs or anything like that,” Pederson said. “But when he’s cleared to play, we go play and don’t have to worry about getting hit, taking a shot or anything like that.”

Jones, who started three seasons for the New England Patriots, wasn't the only problem in Jacksonville's problems, but the offense struggled with him under center. In the last two starts, the Jaguars have managed just 313 total yards and 13 points.

Through nine games, Lawrence has completed 61.3% of his passes for 2,004 yards and 11 touchdowns against six interceptions. On Wednesday, he told reporters that his shoulder felt so good since the injury and that he wanted to play against the Texans.

“Hopefully I can get back out there this week or as soon as possible and then I'll just kind of evaluate it every week and see where it's at,” Lawrence said.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT. The Texans enter the race as 5.5-point favorites.
