Get to know Indianapolis’ Week 11 opponent

Amid a three-game losing streak, the Indianapolis Colts will travel to New York to take on the Jets in Week 11.

Despite an annual record of 4-6,just one game away from a playoff spot. You can thank Denver, Cincinnati and these Jets for continuing to lose, which helps keep Indianapolis in contention.

However, as you can imagine, a loss this week will all but end any remaining hope.

While the defense holds its own against some very good offenses, Indianapolis' offense, particularly the passing game, continues to falter. Can the Colts get back on track against a 3-7 Jets team?

Here's a closer look at New York ahead of Week 11:

Last week (loss, 6-31 vs. Arizona)

After a Thursday night win over the Houston Texans in Week 9, the Jets were unable to build on that momentum last Sunday in Arizona.

Overall, it was a disjointed performance for the Jets on both sides of the ball. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray had an incredibly efficient performance, completing 22 of 24 passes for 11.1 yards per attempt with one touchdown and no interceptions.

New York's offense, meanwhile, averaged just 3.8 yards per play and quickly became one-dimensional after the Cardinals took an early multi-score lead. For some context, the Browns rank last in that category with 4.2 yards per game through 10 weeks on the year.

Quarterback game

This wasn't the version of Aaron Rodgers we've become accustomed to over the last 15 years. On the year, he completed 62.4 percent of his throws for 6.4 yards per attempt and 15 touchdowns with seven interceptions.

Of 41 qualifying quarterbacks, Rodgers ranks 30th in completion percentage, 28th in yards per pass attempt and 10th in interceptions.

With Rodgers recovering from an Achilles tendon injury and nearly 40 years old, his mobility and ability to extend plays and deviate from script, which made him so difficult to play against, have been limited this season.

As previously mentioned, the Jets offense and passing game as a whole can be static and often just seem out of sync.

Line of scrimmage

The inconsistent offensive line play doesn't help the Jets on the offensive side. While they rank 12th in pressure rate, they are helped by the fact that Rodgers is second in average throw time this season – he gets the ball out quickly. From the Jets rank 21st in pass protection and 27th in run blocking, with New York backs averaging just 4.0 yards per rush.

On the other side of the ball, the Jets have held their own against the run with Quinnen Williams in the middle of the front, but have struggled when it comes to catching the quarterback, ranking ninth in pressure percentage among opposing quarterbacks, though 23rd in win percentage.

Sales

The Jets will enter Week 11 with a minus-four turnover differential. As you can probably tell from the minus-four rating, the defense hasn't generated many takeaways, with just seven this season, the fourth fewest in football. Overall, the offense did a good job of preserving the ball, with their 11 giveaways being the 10th fewest.

injury situation

In last week's game against the Cardinals, linebacker CJ Mosley (neck) and offensive lineman Jake Hanson (hamstring) did not play after not practicing during the week. Defensive tackle Solomon Thomas was also sidelined.

Interim head coach On Wednesday morning, he announced that Davante Adams would not practice that day because he was suffering from an illness and wrist pain.

Players you should know

WR Garrett Wilson: Wilson has already scored 98 goals in 10 games this season. He caught 66 percent of those passes for 704 yards and five touchdowns.

WR Davante Adams: Since joining the Jets, Adams has been a favorite target of Rodgers over the years, racking up 38 targets, totaling 206 yards and one score in just four games.

RB Breece Hall: Hall, the Jets' leading back, is averaging 4.1 yards per rush and 136 rush attempts this season and is also frequently used in the passing game.

DT Quinnen Williams: A force in the middle of the Jets' defense, Williams is a disruptor, totaling 34 pressures – the fifth-most among defensive tackles – and his presence helps create opportunities for others by drawing attention to himself.

CB Sauce Gardner: On the year, Gardner has a 59 percent completion rate, forcing four pass breakups.

EN Will McDonald: According to PFF, among all Jets defensemen, McDonald leads the team in pressures with 38 and also holds the team lead in sacks with eight.

CB DJ Reed: On 37 targets, Reed has allowed just 20 completions and limited pass catchers to 12.3 yards per catch. He also leads the team in pass breakups with six.
