The New Orleans Saints are undefeated since Darren Rizzi took over the head coaching duties from Dennis Allen. After just two games believes Rizzi is making a case to become the Saints' head coach on a permanent basis.
Interim coaches are usually not but a strong finish would likely bring Rizzi into the conversation. The way Rizzi has rejuvenated the building is similar to Antonio Pierce's impact on the Las Vegas Raiders a year ago. Pierce remained as the Raiders' head coach beyond his interim season.
Some would say that victory heals everything, and that is the truth. On the other hand, the change in energy occurred before the Saints could even break their losing streak. The move was partly related to Allen leaving, but New Orleans also chose the right person to finish the season.
Making a case or joining the conversation is far from the favorite. If Rizzi continues to lead the team in a similar manner as before, he deserves an interview during the search.
