The changes that interim coach Darren Rizzi has made to the New Orleans Saints' training routine are working. Only six players were listed on the first injury report of Week 13 ahead of their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams, making it one of the shortest injury reports (if not). The shortest) that we have seen in years.
Two of them didn't practice on Wednesday, but both are starting on offense. Rizzi had indicated the team would take a slow approach with Erik McCoy (groin) following his recent return from injured reserve, but left defenseman Lucas Patrick (calf) also did not take the field. Two others were limited each – tight end Foster Moreau (shoulder) and running back Jamaal Williams (groin).
And two other Saints players trained for a full day of reps while recovering from an injury. Linebacker Pete Werner (hand) is on the mend, while defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon (Achilles) is heading toward his debut after an offseason injury began his season on the physically unable to perform list.
The Rams didn't release an injury report on Wednesday, so we'll have to wait and hear from them later this week. Stay tuned.
