Raiders interested in free agent former 1st round QB, but feeling not mutual

On Sunday, the Raiders went from a team without a great QB situation to a team desperate for a quarterback. Coincidentally, the Giants waived their former sixth overall pick, Daniel Jones, around the same time.

So the question, of course, was whether the Raiders would try to sign him if he cleared waivers.

“Any free agent or anyone that can be claimed, that's the third floor,” Antonio Pierce said Monday of potential interest in Jones. “So, [Tom] Telesco and this group are at the top and of course we will see what happens at the end of the day.”

Well, the third floor is said to be interested in Jones, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, Jones does not reciprocate that interest. Apparently he would rather be a backup player on a playoff team, and that's not the Raiders.

It wouldn't do much good to the Raiders' hopes right now, but if Jones could find a new life in Las Vegas, he might have been able to help them in the future. It sounds like that is off the table and the Raiders will have to work with what they have And who they hope will return from injured reserve this week.
