The Seattle Seahawks' archrival, the San Francisco 49ers, didn't lose just one game last week. Their 20-17 loss proved to be even more costly than simply losing ground to Seattle in the NFC West. During the game superstar defensive end a left after suffering a new oblique injury. After the game it became clear that he would miss some time. Unfortunately for San Francisco, Bosa wasn't the only victim.
On Friday, the Niners announced that Bosa would be out for their game against the Green Bay Packers. Joining him on the sideline is quarterback Brock Purdy, who was also sidelined in Week 12.
The 49ers are excluding QB Brock Purdy and DE Nick Bosa from the Packers on Sunday
Purdy was hit in the arm by Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon and played the rest of the game, but was spotted on the sideline wearing an arm brace. According to official information, he is struggling with a shoulder injury.
He will be replaced by Brandon Allen, who previously played for the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals. Allen was originally selected in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft and spent the first four years of his career as a third-rounder/practice squad member for Jacksonville and the Los Angeles Rams. He finally made his first start with the Broncos in 2019. Allen's career record as a starter is 2-7. It will be his first start since the 2021 season. He has thrown 10 touchdown passes against six interceptions.
The news of Purdy and Bosa continues the trend of brutal injury luck for the 49ers, who are struggling to regain their dominant form from last year. San Francisco must now enter Lambeau Field to play the 7-3 Packers, who surely remember how close they came to knocking out the Niners in the playoffs last year without their starting quarterback and best defensive player.
