The 2024-25 season is just a few days away and the anticipation is correspondingly high.
The Florida Panthers had a sour taste in their mouth after losing to them Vegas Golden Knights in the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals. As a result, the Panthers were extremely motivated to finish their job in the 2023-24 season and they did just that by defeating the Edmonton Oilers in seven games. While the Panthers will certainly have a chance to make another breakthrough, the Eastern Conference has a plethora of talented teams that will look to dethrone the reigning Stanley Cup champions.
Here is a breakdown of the Eastern Conference as the 2024-25 season begins.

Can the Panthers repeat?
The Panthers won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in the 2023-24 season. goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky was a steady force in net during Florida's run to the Stanley Cup as the Panthers used their strong offense and outstanding defense to defeat the Oilers.
Like many Stanley Cup-winning teams, the Panthers had quite a few turnovers after the win. The Bruins finished just one point behind the Panthers at the top of the Atlantic Division. In the end, Boston defeated them Maple leaves in the opening round before being eliminated for the second straight year in six games against the Panthers.
The Bruins were added over the summer Elias Lindholm to solidify their top center position just one year after the franchise icon Patrice Bergeron announced his resignation. Devil wants to start a rebound campaign after the busy offseason
The Devils have one of the most talented young cores anywhere . New Jersey won a playoff series in 2022-23 but was marred by defensive inefficiencies in the 2023-24 season. Even more so since the Devils missed the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs altogether.
For the entire 2023–24 season, Devils goaltenders averaged 3.43 goals, which was the fifth-highest in the league. It was a revolving door in the fold with things like that Akira Schmid, Vitek Vanecek, Kaapo KahkonenNico Daws and Jake Allen everyone plays online. The Devils took over at goaltending Jacob Markstrom in an offseason trade with the Flame in an effort to stabilize the situation. However, due to the uncertainty of when Michkov would be released from his KHL contract, many teams chose not to select the Russian scorer. The Flyerswho was in the middle of a rebuild at the time, took a gamble and took Michkov with the No. 7 pick. Just over a year later, Michkov has set foot on American soil and will begin his rookie season in 2024/25.
Traded since Philadelphia Claude Giroux At the 2022 trade deadline, the team was looking for a superstar to build around. There are many key additions to their roster, but Michkov is the talented scorer the Flyers have been longing for. Michkov recently collected 41 points (19 goals and 22 assists) in just 47 games for HC Sotschi and already demonstrated his goalscoring abilities in the NHL preseason. It won't be a huge surprise if Michkov wins the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie once the dust settles on the 2024-25 season.

There is hardly a team that has been closer to reaching the Stanley Cup Final in recent years than the Rangers. New York has been eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals in two of the last three seasons, including losing to the Panthers in the East final last season.

The team added an experienced winger Reilly Smith when trading with the Penguins This adds some scoring prowess to an already dangerous second line. The Rangers will rely on a strong group of top-six forwards and a world-class goalkeeper in the form of Igor Shesterkin. Although Shesterkin struggled in the first half of the 2023-24 season, he ultimately delivered a solid season with a goals-against average of 2.58 and a save percentage of .913. New York definitely has what it takes to compete in the Stanley Cup and will likely be one of the favorites from the East in 2024-25.
