However, Lewis has told his players to be more conscious about what they post on social media.
Several players posted pictures of their activities at the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, including boat rides between games and other outings, which drew criticism after their group stage exit.
“It’s going to be a big learning curve for the players involved,” Lewis said.
“What I would say is that I really trust our players. They train incredibly hard, but women’s football in particular is under a lot more scrutiny than ever before.”
“Unfortunately, players have to think about it and understand the consequences of these things, the misconception of what they are doing and how people can misconstrue a social media post.”
“That’s the reality of the world right now where most people – not me – live their lives on social media. It’s really important for players to understand the impact and how it can be perceived.”
