WBBL 2024 Lizelle Lee smashes 150 as Hobart Hurricanes beat Perth Scorchers

Lizelle Lee hit an unbeaten 150 from 75 balls, setting a new record for the highest individual score in the Women's Big Bash League.

Former South Africa international Lee hit 12 fours and 12 sixes as the Hobart Hurricanes scored 203-3 against the Perth Scorchers.

The Scorchers were then bowled out for 131 in 19.3 overs, with all-rounder Heather Graham taking 3-24 to secure the Hurricanes' stunning 72-run victory.

Lee significantly surpassed Australia's Grace Harris' previous record of 136, which she set for the Brisbane Heat in 2023 – also against the Scorchers.

Her opening partner, England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge, was dismissed for four and Australia's Nicola Carey fell for a first-ball duck.

But 14 from Elyse Villani and an unbeaten 23 from Graham helped Lee dominate a tired Scorchers attack as all-rounder Chloe Ainsworth was the only bowler to escape unscathed with 2-17.

The Scorchers' chase got off to a disastrous start when New Zealand World Cup-winning captain Sophie Devine went down on the first ball of the innings and only Ainsworth's 41 from 27 balls at number eight prevented a complete collapse.

Elsewhere, England captain Heather Knight continued her fine form with a second successive half-century The Sydney Thunder's 18-run win over the Sydney Sixers.

Knight hit 50 off 31 balls in Thunder's 158-6, while Australia's Phoebe Litchfield contributed 34 off 25.

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone was expensive, taking 1-40 from her four overs for the Sixers, who were bowled out for 140 in reply.
