Sunrisers Hyderabad initiated the bid for Bethell, which was understandable considering SRH head coach Daniel Vettori previously worked with the Englishman at Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred. However, RCB quickly entered the fray and eventually hired his services.
Bethell, born and raised in Barbados, moved to England at the age of 13 after winning a scholarship to Rugby School. He recently made his international debut against Australia in the white-ball series. In just his second game, he bowled Adam Zampa for 20 in one over and played a crucial role in England's three-wicket victory in a high-scoring contest.

This was followed by a couple of blistering half-centuries on the tour to West Indies, where he showed what he was capable of while batting in the middle order. Bethell was also recently called up to the red-ball squad for the first time and will start at No. 3 in the first Test against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on November 28.
He recently signed contracts with Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Renegades and SA20 franchise Paarl Royals. His breakthrough came after impressive performances for Warwickshire in The Blast and the Phoenix in The Hundred. Apart from being an excellent finisher, Bethell is also a skilled left-arm spinner. He is also an electric fielder in the ring or at the fence.
