What you should know
The Memphis Grizzlies' road trip continues when they take on the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on Friday at 10 p.m. ET. The Grizzlies strut onto the scene with some offensive power as they have averaged 121.1 points per game this season.
The Grizzlies' season wasn't pretty last year, but it looks like problems are on the horizon. They suffered a 128:123 hit against the Lakers. Memphis' loss meant the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite their loss, the Grizzlies had several players who rose to the challenge and made notable plays. Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of them all.
Meanwhile, the Warriors recorded their biggest win since February 15 on Tuesday. They outrebounded the Mavericks 120-117. Kudos to the oddsmakers for accurately predicting both the winner and the narrow margin.
One of the leaders was Stephen Curry, who almost missed a double-double with 37 points and nine assists.
The Warriors smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds (they rank second overall in offensive rebounds per game). This strong performance was nothing new for the team: It has now grabbed at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Memphis' loss dropped the record to 7-5. As for Golden State, they have been performing incredibly well of late, winning seven of their last eight games, giving their 9-2 record a nice improvement this season.
Rebounding will likely be a big factor in this contest: The Grizzlies are averaging 47.3 rebounds per game this season and are third overall in rebounds per game. However, it's not like the Warriors (currently in second place) are struggling in this department as they have an average of 48.4. With both teams struggling to contain misses, we'll see if one team can gain an edge.
The Grizzlies will be hoping to beat the odds on Friday as experts believe they are headed for a loss. Those interested in the spread don't have an easy decision to make, as they are 8-4 and Golden State is 6-1.
