Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Piñeiro became the most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history on Sunday. . . and him .
While Piñeiro enjoyed his team's farewell, he entered Week 11 with a career field goal percentage of 89.381 percent – his second-highest percentage ever. That mark put him just behind Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who topped the all-time list with 89.716 percent.
Well, Tucker didn't perform particularly well against the Pittsburgh Steelers this afternoon.
The future Hall of Famer began his performance by missing a 47-yard attempt nearly 10 minutes into the first quarter. Then, on Baltimore's next possession, he missed his next attempt, a 50-yard throw.
Tucker was able to overcome both weaknesses to successfully convert on his third attempt, a 54-yarder, with 6:12 left in the third quarter. But it wouldn't be enough to recover in the ranks.
Those errors, even along with the mark, now have Tucker at 89.347 percent — 0.034 percent below Piñeiro.
Congratulations, Steady Eddy!
