The New Orleans Saints designated veteran defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon as returning from injured reserve, and he took the practice field Tuesday for the first time since suffering a partial tear of his Achilles tendon while preparing for training camp this offseason. He's on his way back and his coach couldn't be happier.
“Since Tanoh was injured, I haven't seen anyone but him in this building, and that's thanks to him.” . “Sometimes it's really easy to get frustrated, especially during the rehab process. So kudos to him. He’s just been going through rehab and seeing him out there today with the pads and helmet was a big improvement for him.”
Kpassagnon was a key part of the defensive line in his three years with New Orleans, recording 9.5 sacks and 23 quarterback hits and 65 tackles (10 tackles for loss). He has the size to move inside and rush out of a defensive tackle alignment while showing the lower body flexibility needed to protect the edges, and they would like to add him to the rotation soon. He just needs to prove his body can handle it. He will have 21 days to train and get the green light to play.
