Man City tell Premier League clubs the proposed APT rules are 'unlawful'

On Thursday November 14, the Premier League wrote to Manchester City in an 11-page letter, obtained by the BBC, stating that it “strongly rejects the repeated and unfounded allegations” that “either the league or its representatives acted”. in any way breached the league's obligations as a regulator or “misled” clubs.

“On the contrary, the league is fully aware of its obligation to act fairly and openly and takes it very seriously,” she added.

The league said it had “acted fairly, transparently and responsibly in disseminating vetted proposals for consultation in a timely manner”.

It continued: “During the consultation, the league considered all feedback from clubs, including the MCFC, and sought the views of leading consultants to consider the proposals.”

“MCFC’s disagreement with the proposed changes or the timing of the process undertaken does not mean that the consultation itself is deficient or that the league has failed in its obligations as a regulator.”

The letter added that the fact that City “disagrees with the process does not provide a credible basis for the challenge.”

The Premier League referred to City lawyers' suggestion of seeking an injunction, saying: “Such threats are unfounded and are made without attempting to provide any credible basis on which MCFC might seek to restrict the consultation process.” .”

The Premier League also accused City of “a tendentious and inaccurate interpretation” of the minutes of a meeting with clubs last month.
