The New York Jets' decision to fire general manager Joe Douglas has led many to react critically to the move.
No surprise.
The Jets left their GM as the team enters the bye week with a record of 3-8. While everything was clear for Douglas, considering New York's win-loss record and head coach Robert Saleh was released at the beginning of the year… some were still surprised at the timing.
There are a number of circumstances that favor such reactions. An important point: Douglas already had an expiring contract at the end of the season, so why? Additionally, others believe Douglas did a good job despite not finding an answer at the quarterback position.
These and other stories made headlines after the news broke.
A summary of national media reactions to Douglas' dismissal can be found below:

The Jets can only begin head coach and GM interviews with candidates employed by other teams starting at the end of the regular season. So there's a slight edge for sure, but also… not really.
